Bray Mystery Food Trail: one day of pop-up restaurants in Bray, 9 June

A message from Patrick Grabolle, a Bray resident....perhaps some service-users would be interested in new foods and new people:

On June 9, as part of the Arcadia Festival that the Mermaid Arts Centre (mermaidartscentre.ie) is putting on, I will be organising a day of pop-up restaurants all over Bray. Bray Mystery Food Trail is a one day food festival taking place in unexpected places, be it in your living room, front garden, campervan or public spaces. For those who have always dreamt of being a chef and running their own restaurant, this is a safe, fun and communal way of trying it out. You decide what kind of restaurant you want to have, what's on the menu, what kind of theme it has and how many you want to host. Maybe you just love cooking and sharing food with friends and strangers. And it's a brilliant way of getting to know your town and those that live in it better, by exploring what culinary delights they have to offer.

If you want to find out more, I have set up a facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/BrayMysteryFoodTrail). This is where the festival will be coordinated and where you sign up with your restaurant. If you are interested in getting involved, please let me know. Otherwise, just pop down on the 9th and sample the goods. Please also feel free to forward this to people who might like the idea.

Job Shadow Day

Found this video on the IASE Youtube page. At least one of our service-users is in it. Topical, seeing as yesterday was Job Shadow Initiative Day 2012.

And another video on supported employment from England.

Michael Kendrick Talk

Michael Kendrick.

The Senior Management team with Michael.

Last Friday, we had the pleasure to host the distinguished Michael Kendrick, a leading consultant in the field of disability studies. Michael is a forward thinker and his talk was illuminating to say the least. Many thanks to him for allowing us to film the talks and hopefully we will be able to edit the footage together soon in some format and give you all a taste of what was discussed on the day. Topics such as the future of services and how we view and work for people with disabilities.

Sammy O'Connor getting a laugh out of the managers

As you may or may not know, Sunbeam held a staff conference over 2 days last week at the Glenview Hotel. It has been a few years since the last conference and it was good to meet staff we haven't seen in a long time. It reminds you how big the company really is. It was very informative and the speakers were excellent. The above photos are a sample from day 2.

Garden Team Update - Early Spring

Hi folks we have had a busy few months here in the garden team. Lots of new and exciting things happening that we are all getting used to. Still we have kept ourselves going with fun activities while looking after the various gardens and planning new growth for the spring/summer. As it develops we will post photos here.

Strike a Pose

We have 3 service-users taking part in a fashion show at The Woodenbridge Hotel on Thursday evening. The show is in aid of Woodenbridge Development Association who are doing great work in developing amenities in the local area. The cost is €10 per head which includes a glass of wine. The first 100 people arriving will receive a goody bag.
